Sophia Bush Shares Exciting Update on ‘One Tree Hill’ Reboot
Sophia Bush recently provided an intriguing update on a possible revival of "One Tree Hill."
In August, it was reported that Bush and Hilarie Burton Morgan, both 42, are working on a sequel series to the beloved WB/CW drama, which aired for nine seasons from 2003 to 2012. The stars later confirmed the news through their Instagram accounts. Bush mentioned, "It’s unfortunate when development news leaks early. That’s a bit of a bummer for us as we wanted to get it across the finish line and then have a party," while chatting with Access Hollywood on December 4. She emphasized that the project remains in the development stage but described the process as remarkable: "The fans have kept that show alive and have demanded it for so long, and then the studio approached us."
Reflecting on the passage of time, Bush noted, "Ten years ago, I would have said, ‘Not on your life.’ Now, I realize having not just a comfort show, but a home base means a lot to people." She added, "Beginning to figure out how we might tell these stories and reunite our whole ragtag bunch feels really, really amazing."
Bush ventured to tease fans, stating, "If it happens, I think you’ll be very pleased."
According to Variety, Bush, Burton Morgan, and Danneel Ackles are executive-producing a Netflix sequel. Both Bush and Burton Morgan are expected to reprise their iconic roles as Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer.
After the project was announced, Bush and Burton Morgan confirmed the news on Instagram, saying, "What if you really can go back home? If there’s an opportunity to team with brilliant creatives and build a space where all our friends can show off their talents? Own our history? Reclaim our turf? Honor our fans? Sign us up." They concluded, "There’s only one Tree Hill, after all. And you—the #OTHfam—have shown us that it’s not just an idea. It truly is the place where ‘everything’s better and everything’s safe.’"
Chad Michael Murray, another "One Tree Hill" alum, appeared in the show’s first six seasons before leaving alongside Burton Morgan. He recently mentioned that he has "no idea" if he’ll reprise his role as Lucas Scott in the sequel, but expressed hope that the reboot "comes together for the fans."
