Sophia Bush's Affection for Wicked Has a Special One Tree Hill Connection
At the Los Angeles premiere of Wicked on Nov. 9, Sophia Bush recalled her first experience with the show. She attended with her One Tree Hill co-stars Bethany Joy Lenz and Hilarie Burton.
Sophia holds a sentimental attachment to Wicked. Therefore, attending the Los Angeles premiere was a meaningful moment for her.
"I'm so thrilled to be here," she expressed to Zuri Hall and Justin Sylvester on the red carpet. "It's a night about magic, community, artists, and women overcoming the odds."
This event allowed Sophia, stunning in a Harbison Studio split dress, to reflect on when she first saw Wicked. She reminisced about being with "amazing ladies" at that initial experience.
"Way back when Wicked first premiered on Broadway," she shared, "Bethany, Hilarie, and I heard there was a cool new show." Despite having no prior knowledge of the musical, they were "excited to go," and they were astounded by the performance.
"Unbelievable," Sophia recalled. "I remember Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel — it was so incredible."
The show's themes resonated deeply with her. It's a "testament to female friendship" and centers on "women overcoming the odds." Sophia added, "We could use that right now."
She also expressed her joy about joining Grey's Anatomy during its 21st season, joking, "The lovely internet reminded me that my first episode aired this week."
"I realized Kim Raver and I made all the girls online very happy," she laughed. Her experience on the Shonda Rhimes-created series has been delightful.
"That show is not only iconic but also the set is the happiest place," she stated. "Shonda has built a legacy, and I'm having the best time."
