Southern Charm’s Rodrigo Reyes Shares Why Craig Conover is 'Scary' to Cast

Rodrigo Reyes candidly discussed his relationship with the Southern Charm cast. He noted that he generally connects well with everyone but hesitated when asked which cast members felt scared of Craig Conover. "Craig wants things his way," the 40-year-old actor told Us Weekly during the 36th Annual GLAAD Media Awards on March 27. He acknowledged that Craig’s assertiveness can be seen as domineering at times.

Rodrigo joined the show’s ninth season. He mentioned that while he enjoys getting along with his fellow cast, it’s sometimes essential to take a step back and not take oneself too seriously. He acknowledged that Craig’s serious demeanor is likely why the cast feels hesitant around him.

The tension was evident in the season 10 reunion trailer released in March. Cast member Austen Kroll expressed his fear of Craig, saying, "I feel like I’m just going to get back-handed for stepping out of line." When host Andy Cohen asked the group if anyone else was scared, Rodrigo and others raised their hands in agreement.

"Craig is ambitious, and his business is expanding," Rodrigo shared. He emphasized that while this drive is admirable, it can be beneficial for Craig to pause and be present for his friends. Throughout much of season 10, Craig and Austen's friendship faced challenges. Their connection improved when Craig opened up about battling alcohol addiction and why he distanced himself from parties.

Rodrigo explained how cast members also took issue with Craig’s perspective on certain matters, including his views on Shep Rose’s relationship with Sienna Evans. "He made it very clear how he felt," Rodrigo recounted, referencing Craig’s advice to Shep about moving on from Sienna, who he believed was not suitable for him.

Rodrigo anticipated that Craig’s recent breakup with Paige DeSorbo might lead to a shift in his dynamics with the cast. "Now that Craig’s single, I hope he spends more time with his friends," Rodrigo stated. His goal is to return to a fun atmosphere among the group.

Fans witnessed Craig lean on Shep and Austen more actively during the season 10 finale following his breakup. The season 10 reunion, part 2, will air on Bravo on Thursday, April 3, at 8 p.m. ET. Additionally, fans can catch the 36th Annual GLAAD Media Awards on Hulu on Sunday, April 12.
