SZA Earned the Award for R&B Artist of the Year

SZA has made history by winning R&B Artist of the Year at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards on March 17. This marks a significant achievement for the artist.
A Historic Victory
The "Kill Bill" singer was honored as R&B Artist of the Year during the event hosted by LL Cool J. With this win, SZA, whose real name is Solána Rowe, became the first artist in iHeartRadio history to win this award three times. She previously took home the prize in 2023 and 2024. Other nominees included Chris Brown, Muni Long, Usher, and Victoria Monet.
In her acceptance speech at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, SZA expressed her gratitude. "I'm incredibly grateful," she said. She thanked her team and fans for their support. "Thank you for recognizing me, thank you for playing my music," she added. She concluded with a heartfelt, "Have a blessed evening."
Notable Nominations
This year, SZA earned four nominations, including Best Lyrics for her single "Saturn." She was also nominated for Hip-Hop Song of the Year for "Rich Baby Daddy" featuring Drake and Sexyy Red. Additionally, she was in the running for Artist of the Year. Other artists nominated for this prize included Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen, who had the highest nominations with ten apiece, along with Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Jelly Roll, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, Sabrina Carpenter, and Teddy Swims.
Special Honors and Tour Plans
The awards ceremony included special recognitions. Lady Gaga received the Innovator Award, while Mariah Carey was honored with the Icon Award. Taylor Swift's Eras Tour was celebrated as the Tour of the Century during the event.
Looking forward, SZA is set to embark on a stadium tour with Kendrick Lamar. Their co-headlining Grand National Tour begins in Minneapolis on April 19. Fans were captivated by their performance at the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, SZA promises that the tour will be a unique experience.
"We’re doing a new thing. We’re doing a fun thing," she shared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on March 11.
She mentioned, "We’re both just kind of throwing all the paint at the wall… this is our first stadium show for the two of us, so we have to pretty much go insane."
