Taylor Swift Is Set to Be the Flower Girl at Selena Gomez’s Wedding
Taylor Swift has officially agreed to be the "flower girl" at Selena Gomez’s wedding to Benny Blanco.
Gomez, 32, shared her engagement news with Blanco, 36, on Instagram on December 11. She showcased her stunning diamond ring and expressed her excitement with the caption, "forever begins now…".
Swift, who has been a close friend of Gomez for over 15 years, commented on the post shortly after. "Yes I will be the flower girl," the 34-year-old singer remarked, earning nearly 60,000 "likes" within just 20 minutes.
These two stars first met in 2008 during a double date featuring the Jonas brothers, Joe and Nick. Gomez reminisced about that time during a 2017 radio interview, saying, "We actually dated the Jonas Brothers together! It was hysterical. It was amazing, because Taylor was the girl with the big curly hair and all the bracelets and cowboy boots. I was definitely up-and-coming, and we just clicked."
While neither found long-term romance with the Jonas brothers, they became each other's steadfast support. They consistently celebrate each other's career milestones and effectively handle any online negativity or feuds that arise.
In a 2022 interview with Rolling Stone, Gomez shared her feelings about her friendship with Swift. "I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities. My only friend in the industry really is Taylor," she said. Gomez reflected on her feelings of belonging while noting how material success didn’t equate to happiness during their rise in the industry.
In April 2023, Gomez brought her little sister Gracie to experience Swift’s blockbuster Eras Tour. Both dressed to reflect their favorite Swift eras: Gomez embraced the Folklore vibe while Gracie donned a purple Speak Now dress and received a hat from Swift herself.
"Thank you, bestie, for having me and my sissy transport into your mystical, euphoric and special world. Proud to know you! Love you forever and always," Gomez wrote on Instagram after the event.
Months later, Gomez released "Single Soon," marking her return to music after a two-year hiatus.
At the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards, both Gomez and Swift were spotted enjoying themselves as they posed for photographs. The duo was later seen sharing a light-hearted conversation with Miles Teller’s wife, Keleigh Teller. Following the circulating footage, Gomez took to Instagram to clarify that she shared gossip about two friends who had connected, adding, "Not that that’s [anyone's] business."
