Teddi Mellencamp Addresses Loneliness After Divorce from Edwin Arroyave

Teddi Mellencamp has openly discussed her feelings after filing for divorce from Edwin Arroyave. In a recent episode of her podcast, "Diamonds in the Rough," the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star shared her struggle with loneliness following her split, which took place after 13 years of marriage, PEOPLE reported.

"I enjoy my alone time, which helps me recharge," Mellencamp explained. "Yet there are moments I feel incredibly lonely. I question whether these feelings indicate I made a mistake or if I just need to adapt to this change."

Dr. Nadine Macaluso, a psychotherapist who appeared on her show, encouraged Mellencamp to further explore these feelings. Macaluso empathized, recalling her own experience with loneliness. "It's painful. It's like an ache," she remarked. Mellencamp responded, affirming, "It’s a constant ache I’m trying to navigate."

Mellencamp also touched on her complex emotions surrounding shame. "There’s so much shame," she admitted as Macaluso prompted her further. The reality star reflected on her life’s ups and downs, particularly her childhood experiences related to her father, John Mellencamp. She expressed concern about transferring any chaos from her past to her own children – Slate, 12; Cruz, 10; and Dove, 4.

"My priority has always been to provide my kids with stability," she clarified. "I often doubt if I’m emotionally enough for them."

Her candid commentary comes two months after announcing her separation from Arroyave on Instagram. She filed for divorce just one day prior, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. "After much thought, I made the difficult decision to file for divorce," Mellencamp wrote. "My focus is on my children and ensuring their privacy and wellbeing during this transition."

She explained that making a public statement wasn’t her desire. However, she felt it was necessary to prevent speculation. "Being open, honest, and vulnerable feels like the best path forward," she elaborated.

On Christmas Eve, Mellencamp reflected on her first holiday apart from her children. She shared her plans, saying, "Ordered $74 of Thai food, indulged in cookie dough, and binge-watched nine episodes of Lioness."

In contrast, Arroyave posted cryptic content about his adjustment to a single life, mentioning improvements in his sleep. "Finally got some rest!" he wrote in his review of a sleep-tracking app showing his long-awaited rest.
