Teddi Mellencamp Honors Estranged Husband Edwin Arroyave During Divorce
Teddi Mellencamp, a former star of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," recently paid tribute to her estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave. This post on Instagram occurred two months after her separation announcement. She wrote, "16 years ago [Edwin] and I met. I will forever be grateful for that night at Coco Deville." Alongside this heartfelt message, Mellencamp shared a collection of nostalgic photos featuring herself and Arroyave.
In her message, Mellencamp expressed gratitude for her stepdaughter, Isabella. "I would never have known I wanted kids until meeting my amazing stepdaughter," she shared. This love inspired her journey into motherhood, culminating in the births of her children: Slate, Cruz, and their youngest, Dove, in 2020. She conveyed her feelings further, stating, "I may be far from perfect, but being a mother has been the greatest gift you could have given me. Thank you always and forever."
Mellencamp announced her split from Arroyave on November 2. In an Instagram post, she shared the challenges involved in making this decision: "After significant care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. My priority is my children and protecting their privacy during this new chapter." She chose to go public to guard against speculation surrounding her situation.
Reports in November accused Mellencamp of having an affair with her horse trainer, Simon Schroeder, prior to her separation from Arroyave. An insider shared with Us Weekly that the relationship had ended. In response to betrayal, another source revealed that both Mellencamp and Arroyave had been unfaithful.
On December 24, Mellencamp shared a glimpse into her first Christmas without her children, Slate, Cruz, and Dove. This year, she spent the holidays at the home of her former RHOBH costar, Kyle Richards. "In my Bridget Jones era. If I didn’t laugh at myself, I would cry," she noted in a video where she sang "All By Myself," evoking memories from
"Bridget Jones’s Diary."
Mellencamp reflected on adjustments to her new normal. She acknowledged her children were in capable hands with their father. Nevertheless, she admitted, "That doesn’t mean I can’t feel some type of way." Mellencamp humorously shared her unconventional holiday celebration, stating, "Ordered $74 of Thai food, eating cookie dough (who has time to bake), and watched 9 episodes of 'Lioness'."
In reaching out to other parents in similar situations, she concluded, "To all my parents out there going through this, I love you. What are all the tips for powering through?"
