Teddi Mellencamp's Tumor Update: New Discoveries in Her Battle Against Cancer

On March 6, 2023, Teddi Mellencamp announced troubling news about her ongoing health challenges. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum posted on her Instagram, revealing new tumors found in her brain and lungs.
In her update, she stated, "I have 3 more tumors in my brain and 2 tumors on my lungs. These are all a direct result of my melanoma." Over the past two years, Mellencamp has undergone surgery to remove 17 melanoma spots.
Mellencamp expressed hope, saying, "The doctors are optimistic that these additional mutations will be addressed with immunotherapy. That starts Tuesday at 11 AM." Her message conveyed positivity as she declared, "I will beat these tumors."
Additionally, she showed her new blonde wig, noting she enjoys the short hairstyle but is not fond of the bald spots. "Now, as @bravoandy would say: with all due… f*** off, cancer!"
Earlier in February, Mellencamp faced severe headaches that led to hospitalization. After a CT scan and MRI, multiple brain tumors were diagnosed, presumed to have developed over the last six months. Four tumors were surgically removed on February 12, with plans for radiation treatment on smaller remaining tumors.
Nearly two weeks later, Mellencamp provided a post-surgery update, expressing gratitude towards her medical team. "I am so grateful for the incredible surgeons, doctor, and nurses who made my surgery a success," she stated. The battle is ongoing, but she felt she had gained a small victory.

On February 28, she said she was preparing to start radiation treatment. By March 3, she shared that she was finally going home after a 16-day hospital stay. "Thank you to all my loves and life savers for getting me to this day," she noted in her Instagram Stories.
Mellencamp reflected on the emotional challenges she faced regarding her changing body due to medication. "It's obviously very emotional watching your body change. But I'm trying to remember how grateful I am that I can move my body again," she confessed. "One day at a time, and I'll get back to where I wanna be, feeling my best."

Mellencamp’s latest diagnosis follows her long battle with skin cancer, including removing over 17 melanoma patches, most recently in December 2022. According to the National Institute of Health, up to 60% of advanced melanoma patients may develop brain metastases. Such metastases worsen prognosis, allowing cancer to infiltrate the blood-brain barrier.
