Tia Mowry Recalls a Surprising Moment with Beyoncé at Renaissance Tour: "So Shocked"

In a memorable encounter at Beyoncé's Renaissance Tour, Tia Mowry shared her "shock" when the iconic performer acknowledged her, PEOPLE reported. During a concert at SoFi Stadium on September 4, 2023, Beyoncé sang a portion of Mowry's 1992 song "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah," from her girl group with twin sister Tamera, called Voices. Tia expressed her surprise during an event in Los Angeles, saying, "I was so shocked when that happened." This unexpected tribute took place as Beyoncé performed her ballad, "1+1".
Mowry recalls how thrilling it was to be recognized by such a renowned artist. After being told by another attendee about the tribute, she expressed her admiration and gratitude for Beyoncé's gesture. "It was definitely a moment, and I’m grateful and overjoyed for that moment," Tia described.

Tia Mowry was positioned off to the side during the performance. She recalled how someone behind her brought her attention to Beyoncé's nod, revealing, "What’s so funny... somebody behind me had to say, ‘Oh my gosh, this just happened,’ and I was like, ‘What?’" This made the moment feel even more special for her. Tia later found footage of the performance online and continued to admire Beyoncé's talent.
In an Instagram post following the concert, Mowry spotlighted this unforgettable moment. She wrote, "The highlight of the night was when she saw me in the crowd, and she gave me a smile and a hello and then started singing ‘yeah, yeah, yeah’." Tia characterized this surprise experience as incredibly touching.
Several months passed after the concert tribute, but Tia remained supportive of Beyoncé, attending the premiere of her concert film, "Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé." Accompanied by friends Gabrielle Union, Coco Jones, and Simone Joy Jones, Mowry celebrated this significant film together.

Tia also reflected on her longstanding connection with Beyoncé, dating back to the 1990s. She first met the singer when their brother, Tahj Mowry, starred in Disney Channel’s "Smart Guy." Tia fondly recalled, "From the beginning, Beyoncé’s undeniable talent is only rivaled by her incredible kindness and generosity." Her praise captured the essence of Beyoncé’s artistry and the love evident in her performances.
