Timothée Chalamet Surprises Lookalike Contest in NYC
A lookalike contest for Timothée Chalamet took place in New York City, featuring an unexpected guest: the actor himself.
An Exciting Surprise
On October 27, Chalamet joined his impersonators at Washington Square Park, much to the joy of fans in attendance. The 28-year-old actor casually participated in the event, captured in numerous photos and videos on social media.
Around 20 contestants showcased their best impressions of Chalamet and his iconic roles. They dressed as characters like Willy Wonka from Wonka, Paul Atreides from the Dune series, and Bob Dylan, whom Chalamet portrays in A Complete Unknown, a biopic completed earlier this year.
Surprise Appearance
Chalamet initially entered the crowd disguised with a black mask and baseball cap. He playfully approached two lookalikes for photos and then unveiled his mask, delighting surprised spectators. The actor made time to pose for pictures with various contestants and fans throughout the event.
The competition's judging criteria extended beyond mere appearances. According to the Associated Press, four finalists were asked about their proficiency in French — a nod to Chalamet's French-speaking father — and about their goals for improving the world and romantic interests involving Kylie Jenner, Chalamet's girlfriend.
Contest Results
Ultimately, Miles Mitchell, 21, secured the first place. The Staten Island local effectively portrayed Wonka and received a giant novelty check for $50, humorously addressed to "Best Tim," as reported by the AP.
"I'm excited and overwhelmed," Mitchell expressed. "There were so many remarkable look-alikes. It was tough deciding the winner."
Despite promotional efforts on Partiful, police arrived to disperse the gathering, imposing a $500 fine on organizers for conducting an "unpermitted costume contest," the AP noted.
