Tippi Hedren Celebrates 95th Birthday with Daughter Melanie Griffith

Tippi Hedren, known for her roles in classic films like The Birds and Marnie, recently marked her 95th birthday. Her daughter, Melanie Griffith, shared this joyous occasion on Instagram, posting a video of the birthday cake alongside a photo of Hedren blowing out candles.

"My beautiful Mama turned 95 yesterday! 🥰♥️🥰♥️🥰 She’s happy, healthy and feisty!!" wrote Griffith, who is 67 years old.

Hedren started her career as a fashion model in 1950s New York City. She gained worldwide fame in the 1960s through her notable performances in Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds and Marnie. Her role in The Birds earned her a Golden Globe in 1964 for Most Promising Newcomer.

Hedren's family network is also extensive. In 1957, she had Griffith with her then-husband, advertising executive Peter Griffith. The couple divorced four years later.

Melanie Griffith rose to fame as an actress as well, especially recognized for her role in Working Girl, which earned her an Oscar nomination. The mother-daughter duo has shared the screen multiple times, strengthening their bond.

Hedren is also a grandmother of four: Jesse Johnson, 42; Alexander Bauer, 39; Dakota Johnson, 35; and Stella Banderas, 28. Last year's birthday celebration, which Melanie shared, featured Hedren enjoying family time. "It may not be exciting to the rest of the world, but as a mother and grandmother it's the perfect way to celebrate," Hedren recalled.

At her 94th birthday, Hedren wore bright pink lipstick and glasses adorned with sprinkles reading "CAKE TIME!" In 2003, during her Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony, Melanie presented the award with Dakota and Stella in attendance.

In November 2016, promoting her memoir Tippi, Hedren, Melanie, and Dakota participated in an interview with Vanity Fair. Melanie expressed the significance of being part of such a remarkable family legacy. "The progression of life is really beautiful," she remarked about their generational differences.

Hedren maintains contact with her former son-in-law, Don Johnson, who was married to Melanie twice.

"Beautiful… my co-star, Tippi Hedren," he wrote in an Instagram post, reminiscing about their collaboration in the 1973 film The Harrad Experiment.
