Travis Kelce Shares Key Reason for Returning to NFL After Super Bowl Loss

Travis Kelce, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, confirmed he won't retire yet. He signed on for another season despite the team’s 2025 Super Bowl loss against the Philadelphia Eagles, PEOPLE reported.
On March 5, during an episode of "New Heights," the podcast he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce, Travis discussed his choice. Jason, who retired from the Eagles in 2024, inquired about how the Chiefs’ recent loss influenced Travis’s decision. "It was probably the biggest factor," Travis shared, describing the defeat as an "all-time low."

Jason asked if Travis would have called it a career had the Chiefs won a historic third consecutive Super Bowl. Travis replied, "It’s a pretty cool way to go out, but I think I would still have this love for the game."
While Travis explored various projects during the off-season, including acting roles and hosting gigs, he emphasized that his passion for football brought him back. He said, "The biggest thing is that I f----- love playing the game of football. I still think I can play it at a high level, possibly better than last year."

Reflecting on his performance during the 2024-2025 season, Travis expressed disappointment. "I don’t think it was my best outing. I think I let my guys down in many moments," he stated, referencing his past achievements. He emphasized, "I ended the year with a bad taste," pointing out his accountability.
When considering his return, he explained that it was based on instinct. "I’m not a big measure of the pros and cons [guy]," he noted. "It’s a pure gut feeling…I pulled the trigger as soon as I knew that feeling."
Travis announced his return on February 27 through a text on "The Pat McAfee Show," confidently stating he was "coming back for sure" and expressing his commitment to getting in top shape for the upcoming season.
