Valerie Bertinelli, 64, Shares Bikini Selfie to Highlight her Body and its Journey
Valerie Bertinelli is embracing her body and sharing that message with her followers.
On Tuesday, December 3, the 64-year-old posted a mirror selfie in a black and white bikini on Instagram. She looked fit and flashed a slight smile at the camera. Bertinelli captured this moment before she planned to touch up her hair color.
"In time, I will discuss the madness my body has endured this year," she wrote in the caption. "Yet right now, every bump, wrinkle, and sag feels like acceptance. I appreciate standing in front of a mirror in this hotel bathroom in downtown Manhattan, ready to color my hair late on a Monday night."
This post came shortly after Bertinelli revealed her recent fall, resulting in a knee injury. On Friday, November 29, she posted, "I still have the knees of a 9-year-old. I fall too often for someone my actual age."
Throughout the year, she has candidly shared her experiences and health challenges, including anxiety struggles.
On Sunday, November 17, Bertinelli posted a video showing her shaking hand, communicating a heartfelt message alongside it. She expressed, "You might notice I had a bad anxiety attack today, which I haven’t had in a long time. A few hours ago, I was crying incredibly hard, and my heart felt like it was racing out of my chest. I couldn’t stop shaking."
She continued, "I feel compelled to share this because I know many others experience this. Thankfully, these attacks are less common for me, so today’s episode took me by surprise. The aftermath is tough. When I experience an attack, my body and mind feel like they are under siege."
Bertinelli added that during such episodes, her brain starts to "overthink and catastrophize," causing her body to go "into overdrive," feeling completely out of control.
Almost a month earlier, she also shared a photo documenting an injury on her arm. She humorously admitted to being clumsy in the caption. "I considered asking for hazard pay, but it was my own fault," she wrote on October 30. "Working on an exciting new project led to this. I tripped on stage and fell in front of the crew and audience."
