At the 2025 Golden Globes afterparty, Kate Beckinsale and her ex-boyfriend Matt Rife had a brief reconnection. They shared a friendly conversation that lasted just a short moment.

"They are friendly exes engaging in light discussions and enjoying each other’s company," a representative for Beckinsale, 51, explained to Us Weekly following the ceremony on January 5. However, rumors on January 6 claimed that they shared a kiss. Beckinsale’s rep clarified that this did not occur.

Both Beckinsale and Rife, 29, attended Netflix’s party at Spago in Beverly Hills later that night. Beckinsale also visited a gathering at the Chateau Marmont, where she posed with Paris Jackson and Harry Goodwins from The Gentlemen.

The couple initially dated for a year after meeting in 2017. After their separation, Beckinsale began dating Pete Davidson in 2019. Rife drew attention for advising Davidson to "run," stating their relationship carried complexity.

"Enjoy it while you can. I hope they find happiness and that it develops into a strong relationship," Rife remarked to TMZ in March 2019. He expressed his well-wishes for both but avoided offering extensive advice, urging caution instead.

Years later, Rife expressed regret over his comments about Beckinsale.

"I shared that advice based on my experiences, and I realized we weren’t compatible," he stated in an interview with Elle in September 2023. He emphasized the importance of both Beckinsale and Davidson protecting their emotions.

He publicly apologized to Davidson and Beckinsale, admitting to being a "petty a--hole" about the situation.

"I regret those comments. Pete, if you're out there, I'm sorry for saying that. Kate, I apologize as well. I shouldn’t have made those remarks," he shared. "I just wanted them to safeguard their feelings and navigate carefully as they entered another relationship."

Before dating Rife and Davidson, Beckinsale was married to Len Wiseman. They tied the knot in 2004 but separated in 2015, finalizing their divorce in 2019.

Earlier in her life, Beckinsale was with actor Michael Sheen from 1995 to 2003. They share a daughter named Lily Mo, who is now 25 years old.
