Why Ashley Tisdale's Daughter Mistook Zac Efron for Her Dad

Ashley Tisdale's daughter, Jupiter, was captivated by Troy Bolton during her first viewing of High School Musical.

In a recent podcast episode, Ashley revealed that the now-3-year-old thought that Zac Efron, who portrayed the character, was her father, Christopher French. "[My husband] showed her High School Musical about a year ago," Ashley shared on the January 15 episode of the Breaking Beauty podcast. Jupiter enthusiastically called out, "Daddy!" causing Ashley to correct her, saying, "No, no, no. Just because they have dark hair."

Jupiter's interest in her mother’s work doesn’t stop with High School Musical. The actress reported that in November, her daughter eagerly awaited her appearance during the live stream of the Wicked movie premiere. Ashley joyfully recounted, "She’s like, ‘I gotta see mommy on carpet. I gotta see mommy on carpet.’" It struck her as amusing that Jupiter found it exciting that Ashley attended an event for a film in which she wasn’t involved.

Although Ashley has a 4-month-old daughter, Emerson, she observed that Jupiter may not fully comprehend her mother’s career. "She’s only 3," Ashley noted, indicating Jupiter’s young age. However, Jupiter has started questioning why people ask for pictures with her mother, reflecting a growing awareness of fame.

Ashley reminisced about their experience at a Taylor Swift concert in Miami. There, Jupiter noticed fans taking pictures with her mother and asked, "Mommy, why are they taking pictures with you?" The actress admitted uncertainty in her response, saying, "I just said, ‘I don’t know.’" It seems that Jupiter now assumes interacting with famous people simply involves taking photos.
