Why Gwen Stefani Almost Ended Her Romance with Blake Shelton Early On
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton's romance nearly didn't happen. The couple married in 2021 after meeting in 2015 as coaches on The Voice. However, Gwen recently shared in an interview with People that her relationship was nearly derailed at its inception.
"I was at a point where I thought, 'I can't even talk to you,’" Gwen revealed. "This is insane. I already had enough problems. This isn't happening anymore." The pair's past divorces from Gavin Rossdale and Miranda Lambert made their early days challenging.
Gwen noted, "We had just met, and it was chaos. Both of our lives were in complete turmoil." At that time, nothing seemed capable of stabilizing their situations.
Despite initial hesitations, Blake's desire to impress caught Gwen's attention. "I think he really wanted to impress me," she explained. Blake doesn't write as many songs anymore, but music remains essential to Gwen's fulfillment.
Blake enlisted Gwen’s help to finish "Go Ahead and Break My Heart," a country duet they released in 2016. Gwen recounted, "He sent it to me as a half-finished song. He was like, ‘Help me finish this.'" She then contributed the second verse via text. This collaboration paved the way for a deep connection.
For Gwen, Blake represented more than a creative partner. She viewed him as an answered prayer. "Since I was little, I wanted to have the love my parents shared and have children," she recalled. "That dream was crushed, and I needed to create a new one."
"God placing Blake in my life was just that miracle," she concluded, reflecting her gratitude for their bond.
