Selena Gomez didn’t need to run through any jungles to find Benny Blanco.
The "Wolves" singer and the music producer have collaborated on various hits. Their notable songs include "Single Soon" and "I Can’t Get Enough." Interestingly, they were first introduced nearly a decade before starting their romantic relationship. This connection culminated in their engagement in December 2024.
Benny shared insights during an April interview with SiriusXM Hits 1. "We first met almost 16 or 17 years ago," he said. "We created many songs together. But before our musical collaborations, I was one of her big meetings as she transitioned from Disney. Neither of us recalled the meeting; however, her mom did."
Even after reconnecting years later, Benny did not anticipate their platonic bond evolving into romance. Emphasizing this point, he reflected in a subsequent month's interview on The Howard Stern Show. "It was wild. On our first outing, I didn’t even realize it was a date."
Since confirming their relationship via Instagram in December, Selena has shared glimpses of their connection. She shared moments from their date nights, affectionate pictures, and declared who proclaimed "I love you" first — spoiler: it was her. She even penned a heartfelt tribute for his 36th birthday in March. "Your emotional endurance, positive disposition, unbelievable talent, undeniable humor, and loving heart absolutely amaze me," Selena expressed. "I love you @itsbennyblanco."
She has made it clear that this love is unlike any other. "It’s the safest I’ve felt, and it’s been truly lovely," said the 32-year-old in February during an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. "I’ve only grown through this relationship."
Benny shares a similar sentiment, expressing his desire to build a family with Selena in the future. "When I look at her," he stated on Howard Stern's show, "I often think, ‘I can’t imagine a world better than this.’"
