Quectel's FLM263D Wi-Fi module has teamed up with the Alexa Connect Kit (ACK) SDK for Matter, allowing for quick and easy setup with Amazon Alexa. Not only does the FLM263D work seamlessly with Alexa, but it also ensures compatibility with other smart home assistants such as Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, and Apple HomeKit that adhere to the Matter standard. This was reported by SSPDaily.
Compact in size, the FLM263D comes in a 17.3x15.0x2.8-mm LCC package and supports both 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE 5.2. Equipped with a built-in PCB antenna, the module incorporates a processor operating at speeds of up to 320 MHz, 512 kbytes of SRAM, and 4 Mbytes of flash memory.
Ben McInnis, the director of Smart Home at Amazon, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, "We created ACK to simplify the process of building smart home devices for manufacturers who may not possess extensive knowledge in multiple wireless protocols, complex cloud connectivity, and maintaining cloud infrastructure. Quectel's FLM263D expands the options available in ACK's range of solutions, providing manufacturers with more choices."
Ensuring the security of connected devices, the FLM263D complies with WPA, WPA2, and WPA3 security standards. It offers features like secure boot and Mbed TLS encryption. The module also provides five GPIOs, which can be used as PWM or I2C communication channels. It operates on a power supply of 3.0V to 3.6V and has a wide temperature range of -40°C to +105°C.
The FLM263D is especially suitable for smart light bulb applications. However, Quectel has plans to release additional modules targeting different smart household devices, including smart switches and smart plugs. This expansion will further enhance the versatility and application possibilities of their product line.
