Yvette Nicole Brown Ties the Knot at 53: "Never Thought It Would Happen for Me"

Yvette Nicole Brown, the beloved star from Community, is officially married! At 53, she married actor Anthony Davis in an "intimate, classy, and fun" ceremony on December 14 in Los Angeles.

In an interview with People published on December 15, Brown emphasized that "It’s never too late." She noted, "I’m not someone who really likes a lot of attention. I realized there’s a way to have a wedding focused on others." She sees her wedding as an inspirational moment, especially since she never thought marriage would be in her future. Brown expressed a desire to remind people of God’s continuous blessings.

Brown and Davis first developed a friendship in their twenties. They reconnected in 2021 following the passing of Brown's mother. "Instead of ‘everybody come and look at me,’ it’s more like, ‘Come witness love and miracles,’" she added, focusing on the positivity of their love story.

The actress wore a stunning mermaid-style gown by designer Ines Di Santo, while Davis looked sharp in a custom brown suit. Brown confidently shared, "I had no nerves when it came to marrying this man. He is the one for me. Absolutely."

At the reception, Leslie Odom Jr., a Tony-winning star from Hamilton, performed. In a touching gesture, Davis arranged for Brown's father, who has Alzheimer’s disease, to attend alongside his care facility staff.

With her mother absent and her father unwell, Brown was walked down the aisle by her brother, Paris. She said, "So my brother and his sister stood in. It was nice to walk toward family, even if it’s not the family we wish we had in those roles."

Brown shared her engagement announcement to Davis in December 2023. Earlier in September, she hinted to Us Weekly that their wedding might be larger than initially planned. "I am not someone who would want a big wedding, but many people have prayed for me and wish to celebrate," Brown said. "If I'm having a big party, celebrating love is the perfect occasion."
