Zachary Levi Responds to Timothée Chalamet Casting Rumors in ‘Tangled’ Live-Action Film

Zachary Levi expressed his thoughts on the possibility of Timothée Chalamet portraying Flynn Rider in the live-action adaptation of Tangled. While attending the New York premiere of The Unbreakable Boy, Levi remarked, "Oh, I think he would be great." He shared his enthusiasm for the rumored casting when speaking with Us Weekly. "I would totally sign off on Timothée," he added.
Levi, now 44, lent his voice to the role of Flynn Rider in the 2010 animated film. His co-stars included Mandy Moore as Rapunzel and Donna Murphy as Mother Gothel. When prompted about a potential sequel, Levi commented that he is uncertain if Tangled 2 will ever be produced. He noted, "We did a Tangled series," referencing the 2017 show, Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure, which aired for two seasons featuring both Moore and Levi.

In December 2024, sources such as Deadline and Variety confirmed that Disney is planning a live-action remake of the 2010 classic, Tangled. Michael Gracey, known for directing The Greatest Showman, is reportedly in talks for the direction, while Jennifer Kaaytin Robinson, who wrote Do Revenge and Thor: Love and Thunder, penned the latest version of the script.
Zachary Levi's reminiscence of his role in Tangled, whether through rewatching the animated film or participating in the new live-action adaptation, intertwines with his personal life. He announced on Instagram in December 2024 that he and girlfriend Maggie Keating are expecting their first child. "I’ve wanted to be a dad since I was literally a kid," Levi expressed, sharing an ultrasound image. He reflected on his lifelong desire for fatherhood, mentioning the need for personal growth before embracing such important responsibilities.

In his announcement, he explained that last November marked a significant shift in himself, which he attributes to "loving and valuing myself more." Levi praised Keating, describing her as "a wonderful woman on the same journey of self-discovery." He expressed excitement about welcoming their child, stating, "We can’t wait for ya’ll to meet our little bambino." They plan to keep the baby's sex a surprise, hoping for a name that balances uniqueness and practicality.
Levi also discussed how his role in The Unbreakable Boy, which focuses on courage and joy amid challenges, has prepared him for fatherhood. He emphasized that working with anyone can foster empathy, reinforcing the importance of recognizing the perspectives and experiences of others. "It teaches you that there is another soul out there that is not you," he said in an interview with Us. He spoke highly of his co-star Jacob Laval, noting his incredible energy in portrayals and his raw talent, particularly for child actors, who may have less experience.
