Zayn Malik Cancels Mexico Concert Due to Severe Food Poisoning

Zayn Malik has canceled his concert scheduled for Friday, March 28, in Mexico City. This decision followed a severe case of food poisoning affecting him and some crew members.
"I’m heartbroken to say that I won’t be able to perform tonight in Mexico City," Malik, 32, shared on his Instagram Stories, just hours before the concert began. He mentioned feeling ill since the morning, stating, "Despite trying everything to push through, my body just isn’t allowing it." Malik expressed his regret, saying, "I’m so sorry to let you down. The love and energy from my fans mean the world to me."
Later, nearly seven hours post-cancellation, he provided an update. "Mexico, I love you even though many of my crew and I got severe food poisoning," he noted in another Instagram Story, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.

Malik sincerely apologized to the fans holding tickets for the show, conveying to them, "I’m so sorry—these shows have made me feel alive, happy, and grateful." He added, "Your energy fills me with a love I can’t describe. Big love."
The singer commenced his Stairway to the Sky Tour in November 2024, marking his return after several years. "I don’t want to play a character," Malik explained during a May 2024 SiriusXM's The Morning Mashup. He expressed the importance of being genuine in his performances, reflecting on the longer process of self-discovery involved.
He recalled his experience making music, suggesting, "When people have deadlines, it makes sense for business. But I want my music to feel genuine." He emphasized that authenticity underlies his creative process.
Previously, Malik also had to cancel a performance at the O2 City Hall Newcastle in December 2024 due to vocal issues. "I’m so sorry to do this, but my voice just isn’t there at all tonight," he explained through social media. He shared his disappointment and held onto hope for a quick recovery, stating, "I love you all xx."
