Zendaya's White Gown at The Gothams 2024 Is Her Best Look Yet
Zendaya made a stunning entrance at the 34th annual Gotham Awards, showcasing a breathtaking all-white gown as she received the 2024 Spotlight Tribute. The star of Challengers captivated attendees with her elegant appearance.
On December 2, at the Gothams, Zendaya wore a simple yet chic, halter-cut, floor-length white gown. This timeless piece turned heads, proving her fashion prowess on the red carpet.
To complete her polished look, she styled her hair in a sleek ponytail. Her makeup remained understated, focusing on a smoky eye, nude lip, and rosy cheeks.
The 28-year-old actress wasn’t just there for fashion. She received the event's top honor for her role as Tashi Donaldson in Challengers.
"The Gotham celebrates creative excellence, which Zendaya’s portrayal of Tashi exemplifies," stated Jeffrey Sharp, executive director of The Gotham Film and Media Institute. Sharp highlighted her performances across projects like Dune: Part One, Dune: Part Two, and Euphoria, marking her as a leading actor of her generation.
Zendaya’s transition to more complex roles over recent years has been deliberate.
"I want to find characters that push me," she shared with Elle in 2023. "I can’t play a teenager forever."
Initially, she felt apprehensive about taking on the bold role in Challengers. However, she recognized the transformative potential of such ventures.
"It was a bit scary to accept, which I view as positive," she explained, commenting on the excitement of face new challenges.
Beyond her acting career, Zendaya's fashion sense has gained significant attention.
She dazzled during the Challengers press tour, presenting looks that expertly blended tennis-inspired style with high fashion. At the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Zendaya wore a striking Bob Mackie gown reminiscent of Cher's iconic styles.
The gown, from Mackie’s 2001 collection, echoed Cher’s 1972 look. Zendaya enhanced this tribute by styling her hair in a sleek, pin-straight design that cascaded down her back.
In some instances, Zendaya elevates her look further by coordinating outfits with boyfriend Tom Holland. The couple displayed their matching burgundy attire during the Oct. 24 launch of Holland's non-alcoholic beer, BERO, in New York City.
Zendaya attributes her distinct fashion sense to her transformational approach.
"There’s a different being that comes into me — my own Sasha Fierce," she explained in an April interview with Vogue, referencing Beyoncé’s captivating alter ego. "She takes over when I hit the carpet."
Each time she steps into the public eye, Zendaya embodies an intricate character, a style and attitude encompassing her presence.
"I have to embrace her," she added, referring to the vibrant persona she channels during these moments.
