Air Link Partners with Acer Gadget to Assemble Laptops and Tablets in Pakistan
Air Link Communication Limited (Air Link), known for manufacturing and distributing smartphones in Pakistan, has teamed up with Acer Gadget. Acer Gadget is a global leader in providing innovative and affordable technology. This collaboration was announced through a notice filed with the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday.
In their notice, Air Link stated, "Acer Gadget Inc., a global leader in innovative and affordable technology, announces a strategic partnership with Air Link." This will introduce products like ‘Acer Gadget e10’ laptops, tablets, and all-in-one devices to the Pakistani market. As part of this partnership, Air Link obtained distribution rights and signed an exclusive assembling agreement. This agreement involves working with Acer Gadget’s manufacturing partner, Shanghai Sixunited Intelligent Technology Co. Ltd., to operate at Air Link’s Lahore facility.
"This partnership marks a significant step forward in Air Link’s commitment to the ‘Made in Pakistan’ initiative," the company noted. It aims to enhance the Pakistani technology landscape by making high-quality, accessible devices available. Following this announcement, Air Link's share price rose, reaching around Rs139 by the time of this report. This pricing reflects an increase from Rs132.14 at the close of the previous session.
Acer Gadget Inc. is a subsidiary of Acer Inc., regarded as a leading Taiwanese multinational corporation specializing in hardware and electronics. Acer is especially known for its range of laptops, desktops, monitors, and various peripherals.
Founded as a private limited company in January 2014, Air Link transitioned to a public limited company in April 2019. The company focuses on importing, exporting, distributing, and retailing communication and IT-related products, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and accessories.
In a recent development, Air Link signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IMIKI Corporation in June. This partnership aims to manufacture smart wearable devices. Additionally, in October of the prior year, Air Link collaborated with Xiaomi, a top player in consumer electronics and smartphones. This partnership focuses on producing smart TVs at Air Link’s Lahore facility while they continue local smartphone production as well.
