Angelina Jolie's Surprise Barefoot Appearance on The Tonight Show

Angelina Jolie turned heads during her first talk-show appearance in ten years. The "Maria" star graced The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in a flowing black gown while going barefoot. This choice made a striking fashion statement on stage at Studio 6B in Rockefeller Center.

Host Jimmy Fallon noticed Angelina's lack of shoes and asked, "Did you forget your shoes?" Jolie, 49, chuckled and explained, "No, I broke my toe yesterday. I tried finding a comfortable shoe, but I ultimately decided not to wear any." She displayed her dark-painted toenails as she settled into her seat beside Fallon’s desk.

During the interview, Jolie acknowledged her discomfort on talk shows. "I get very nervous," she admitted. "I haven't done one in about a decade. This is so not my thing."

Jolie shared insights about her children with ex-husband Brad Pitt: Maddox, 23; Pax, 21; Zahara, 19; Shiloh, 18; and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16. She discussed their individual interests regarding the entertainment world. "Some of them want to work off-camera, behind the scenes. However, they especially cling to privacy," Jolie explained.

"Just private, not photographed," she emphasized, particularly highlighting Shiloh’s desire for privacy. Fallon responded to Angelinas’s thoughts on fame by saying, "It must get tricky since everyone’s famous."

Jolie noted, "But it wasn’t their choice. Some of them are more comfortable in public, while others prefer the privacy of their lives." She stated similarly on Good Morning America on November 21, saying none of her kids wish for public exposure currently. "They are quite private," she reiterated.

As a mother, Jolie expressed hope for her children, stating, "I hope they can experience privacy as they grow older."

Jolie’s appearance on the show served to promote her new role in "Maria," a biopic directed by Pablo Larraín, where she portrayed opera singer Maria Callas. The film captured attention with its rousing standing ovations at both the Venice International Film Festival and the Telluride Film Festival. An emotional eight-minute ovation in Venice moved Jolie to tears and has generated Oscar buzz for her performance.

This week, she reflected on her late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, while honored at the Gotham Awards for her performance in "Maria." Bertrand passed away in 2007 after battling ovarian cancer. Angelina shared heartfelt thoughts, stating, "In Maria's memory, thinking of my mom... I am honored to be part of this community celebrating creativity and expression."
