Bad news for TikTokers: CapCut to stop providing free cloud storage
Starting from August 5, CapCut, the video editing app developed by ByteDance, will no longer provide free cloud storage for hosting creative assets. This change in policy was recently communicated to users through notifications. Previously, the app offered 1 GB of free cloud storage, but this will no longer be available. Users will now have to subscribe to one of CapCut's paid plans for cloud storage. This is reported by SSP.
CapCut currently offers two subscription options: a $2.49 per month plan for 100GB of storage and a $7.49 per month plan for 1000GB of storage. This means that creators who require additional space will either have to purchase one of these plans or utilize another cloud service provider to store their files.
Furthermore, with the free tier of CapCut, users were allowed up to five collaborators on their account. However, moving forward, the app will reduce this limit to two collaborators. According to a spokesperson from the company, from August 5th onward, users will be able to have one free collaborator on their CapCut account. If users wish to collaborate with more individuals, CapCut offers the Team Tier package, which enables users to collaborate with multiple user accounts that share the same cloud space.
Earlier this year, YouTube launched Create, its own video editing app designed to rival CapCut. They expanded Create's availability to 13 additional markets, including Brazil, Spain, Canada, Australia, and Hong Kong.
