Chappell Roan's Hilarious Struggles with Body Paint After Iconic Statue of Liberty Costume

Chappell Roan shared her challenges in removing the green body paint from her viral Statue of Liberty costume during the 2024 Governors Ball Music Festival. This revelation came during her appearance on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy on March 25.

While the "Hot To Go" singer captivated the audience with her Statue of Liberty homage, she faced difficulties in undressing from the costume. She explained, "I just spread my cheeks and get sprayed with green," highlighting the paint's reach.

During her performance, Chappell showcased her tribute to New York City. She emerged from a red apple while wearing a crown headpiece, a green tube top, and a skirt. Later, she swapped her outfit for a dress resembling a yellow taxi.

However, removing the paint proved quite challenging. "The way I got that off was I took three baths, not soap, just dish soap," she told Alex Cooper. She described scrubbing with coconut oil and a kitchen sponge.

"Like, my pubes are pulling out from it all," she confessed, admitting she has not undergone laser hair removal. Even after her extensive cleaning efforts, some paint left a slight green stain on her skin. "I literally looked moldy for days," she added.

Chappell Roan enjoys surprising her fans with fresh looks. She made her Paris Fashion Week debut on March 6, showcasing a metallic and cream slip supported by a new brunette hairstyle. Her drag-inspired makeup completed her look.

In an Instagram video for Vogue at the show, she stated, "I don’t really look like me right now, but it’s kind of awesome. I’m so excited!"

Her style explorations extend beyond aesthetics. After winning Best New Artist at the 2025 Grammys, Chappell, born Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, released her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwestern Princess. This release garnered five more Grammy nominations, including hits like "Good Luck, Babe!"

Recently, she ventured into country music, debuting a new single titled "The Giver" on March 13. "I wanted to write a country song because I thought it would be funny," she shared on Today’s Country Radio.

Chappell expressed her love for country music as rooted in her upbringing in southwest Missouri. "I grew up on Christian and country," she explained, adding, "then found ‘Alejandro’ by Lady Gaga and I was like, ‘I think I like this, too.’ So, I have kept country in my heart."
