Colin Jost Searched Through 12 Dumpsters for Scarlett Johansson’s Missing Engagement Ring
Colin Jost is dedicated to his love for Scarlett Johansson. The Pop Culture Jeopardy! host, aged 42, recently disclosed on Amazon Prime Video's game show about a unique experience he had. He recounted how he rummaged through twelve dumpsters in New York City after Johansson, aged 40, suspected that she had misplaced her engagement ring.
"My wife actually lost her engagement ring," Jost recalled, according to E! News. Johansson feared she "accidentally threw it in the trash."
Jost humorously continued, "I looked through 12 dumpsters of trash," highlighting his commitment. Unfortunately, his search for the lost ring yielded no results. When he returned home, Johansson revealed the ring was safe and sound in her pocket.
"I went back to the house and she said, ‘Oops! It was in my pocket,'" Jost remarked lightheartedly. "It was a great day for me."
Jost and Johansson married in October 2020 and have a three-year-old son, Cosmo. Additionally, Johansson has a daughter, Rose, aged 10, from her previous marriage to Romain Dauriac.
In another recent revelation, Jost shared that Johansson was "genuinely so shocked" by a risqué joke made during a joke swap event between him and Saturday Night Live co-star Michael Che in December 2024.
"Costco has removed the roast beef sandwich from its menu," began the joke Che wrote for Jost. "I’ve been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid." The camera showed Johansson backstage, appearing horrified and surprised at the punchline.
"I was, obviously, surprised by everything, but they gave her a heads-up," Jost stated on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon a few weeks later. He explained that the SNL team had asked Johansson if it was acceptable for Che to make a "kind of vagina joke" at any point.
Johansson agreed to the jest, but the content of the joke shocked both of them.
"I didn’t know where it was going, and then the graphic came up for Arby’s," he recalled. "Scarlett is backstage, like, ‘Oh, my God, that’s what it is?’"
In addition to these fun anecdotes, Jost also spoke about his role as a stepfather. In a July 2024 interview with The New York Times, he shared, "I think part of the reason I fell in love with her is she’s a great mom."
He mentioned knowing Rose since she was two years old, emphasizing, "It’s weird. You get to actually preview someone as a mom."
