Courteney Cox Aims to Create a Scent Inspired by Partner Johnny McDaid
Courteney Cox, known for her role in "Friends," plans to create a fragrance inspired by her partner, Johnny McDaid. The actress, 60, aims to celebrate both their heritages through this new venture in her Homecourt brand.
During the Inc. 5000 45th Annual Conference & Gala in October, Cox revealed her ambition. "I think that there’s something that should be done in bringing in him. I want to do a scent with him," she stated, hinting at the concept. Her idea is to fuse McDaid's Irish roots with her Southern upbringing, creating a unique scent that honors both cultures.
McDaid, a musician from Derry, has been in a relationship with Cox since 2013, briefly separating in 2015. A mutual friend, Ed Sheeran, introduced the couple.
In addition to this new fragrance project, Cox spoke about her collaboration with her daughter, Coco, 20. They worked together on the Cocomoi collection earlier this year. Cox recalls that while creating the mood board, she suggested a "green and wet and woodsy" theme. Coco successfully captured the essence with her vision, assembling "the most beautiful board" to represent this scent.
The Cocomoi collection includes various products, such as perfume, body wash, body mist, body butter, and even a candle. This marked a new chapter for Cox in body care, and she proudly shares, "I am really, really proud of it."
Cox mentioned that Coco, whom she shares with ex-husband David Arquette, has "great taste and great attitude." For the fragrance, Cox blended notes of coconut, pepper, and cedarwood at a perfumery. After mixing the scents, she provided Coco with choices, hoping she would select the one they would ultimately use.
Furthermore, Cox highlighted another success from Homecourt. She noted that her "Friends" co-star, Jennifer Aniston, has become a fan of one specific product—the signature Cece scent. Describing Aniston's enthusiasm, Cox said, "I've never been to her house without smelling a Cece candle right when you walk in."
