Critics Choice Awards 2025 Postponed Again Due to Los Angeles Fires
The 2025 Critics Choice Awards, originally set for January 12, has faced another delay. The event was previously pushed to January 26 but has now been postponed indefinitely due to ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.
Ongoing Wildfires Affect Local Community
The awards show will remain on hold amidst the devastating fires. The flames are sweeping across areas from Pacific Palisades to Pasadena, causing significant destruction. Many homes and businesses have been impacted severely, including residences of celebrities such as Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, and Mel Gibson.
CCA CEO Joey Berlin expressed empathy for those affected in a statement on January 8. He stated, "This unfolding tragedy has already had a profound impact on our community. All our thoughts and prayers are with those battling the devastating fires."
Personal Impact on Celebrities
Mandy Moore shared the devastating impact of the fires. She reported that "Everyone we know lost everything," alongside photos from her destroyed home. Her statement continued with reflections on survivor's guilt and her commitment to help with community rebuilding.
Milo Ventimiglia, her co-star in This Is Us, remarked on his emotional journey amid the devastation. He expressed, "You start thinking about all the memories… and your heart just breaks," during a visit to his Malibu property.
Devastation and Loss of Life
The fires ignited under hurricane-force Santa Ana winds have also resulted in tragic loss of life. Reports indicate at least 24 fatalities related to the fires, as confirmed by the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner. Among the deceased is Dalyce Curry, a Blues Brothers actress. Her granddaughter recounted that remaining belongings included only "her blue Cadillac" after her Altadena home was destroyed.
Community and Celebrity Support
Despite the overwhelming tragedy, support is emerging from the Hollywood community. Celebrities like Beyonce, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Eva Longoria have publicly pledged donations for relief efforts. Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and Jennifer Garner are also actively participating in donation initiatives to assist those impacted by the wildfires.
