Darius Rucker on His Alleged Move to London: 'Don’t Get it Twisted Y’all'
Darius Rucker has addressed concerns regarding his recent move to the UK, reassuring fans that his heart remains in the Carolinas. The 58-year-old, known for his Grammy-winning work, took to Instagram on February 1st to clarify that while he is currently living in London to work on new music and to perform some UK shows, South Carolina will always be his true home. This is prepared by SSP.
Rucker's Instagram post was a response to questions from followers about his commitment to his roots. He stressed that, despite his current location, nothing can displace his love for the Carolinas. "I’m living in London while working on some new music and playing some shows," he stated. "Always been on the bucket list — but don’t get it twisted y’all … nothing will ever replace the Carolinas and it is still home."
Fans were thanked for their continued support, and he expressed his love in return, underscoring that he'd been a "traveling musician all my life." This clarification reflected his post from two days earlier, where he noted his enthusiasm for upcoming UK performances, teasing, "I can’t move to London and not play U.K. shows! Limited VIP packages still available."
His London stint includes performing at the CMA Songwriters Series in Greenwich, with further shows planned across Belfast, Glasgow, Birmingham, and Manchester. Following summer dates back home in the U.S., Rucker will revisit the UK in the fall.
Darius has often fondly mentioned his hometown of Charleston, South Carolina. In past interviews, like one with Greenville News in 2019, he expressed how Charleston feels like where he belongs, emphasizing the connection he feels upon returning, surrounded by friends and family. Rucker's devotion to his roots is evident in his personal and professional life, keeping the Carolinas close to his heart, regardless of where his career takes him.
