Dave Coulier Shares Insight into Chemotherapy Session During Cancer Fight
Dave Coulier, a Full House alum, recently shared a glimpse of his chemotherapy experience. This update follows a recent announcement regarding his battle with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a type of blood cancer.
The actor, famed for his role as Joey on Full House, posted a photo showing himself giving a thumbs up in the chemotherapy chair. This comes just days after he revealed his diagnosis of stage 3 Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a condition characterized by cancer in the lymph nodes.
"Putting a positive spin and sending love to all of you who are battling and going through chemo," the 65-year-old wrote in his Instagram Stories on Nov. 15. "And remember to laugh."
Coulier publicly disclosed his diagnosis on Nov. 13, having learned of it five weeks earlier. "In that time, I've had three surgeries, I've had chemo, I've lost a little bit of hair," he commented during an episode of Today with Hoda Kotb. He amusingly noted, "I kind of look like a little baby bird now, but it has been a roller coaster ride for sure."
The comedian described his type of lymphoma as "very aggressive" and noted the rapid onset of symptoms. "The onset of this growing lymphoma in my groin area was very quick. So I said, 'Ah, something's not right. I have a golf ball down here,'" Coulier recounted. "And they said, 'We wish we had better news for you, but you have B-cell lymphoma. We need to get you into chemotherapy right away.'"
Coulier reassured fans about the prognosis, stating there is a "90 plus percent" curability rate. He emphasized, "So it's very treatable."
While navigating this challenge, the actor relies on the support of loved ones and reflects on his "incredible life." He stated, "I’ve had the most amazing people in my life. This has been an extraordinary journey, and I’m OK if this is the end of the journey."
Coulier shared his diagnosis with Full House co-stars through a group chat before making it public. John Stamos, who portrayed Uncle Jesse, expressed his support with a heartfelt post. "My brother from day 1," he captioned a photo collection of their moments together. "Love you @dcoulier and I’ll be by your side through it all."
Additionally, Scott Weinger, known for his role as Steve on Full House, responded with encouragement. "Yesterday my dear friend @dcoulier shared with fans the news that he was recently diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma," he wrote on Instagram on Nov. 14. "He hopes that his brave fight will inspire others to be vigilant about their own health. So please send all your love and good wishes his way."
Weinger concluded his message, saying, "Love you, Dave. You got this."
