DJI enters e-bike industry with two novelties featuring enhanced driving experience
DJI, renowned for its drone technology, is making strides in the electric bike industry with the introduction of its Avinox drive system and the Amflow e-bike brand. Before the close of this year, they will be launching their first e-bike called the Amflow PL, a carbon fiber electric mountain bike. This remarkable lightweight bike comes equipped with the Avinox mid-drive motor and a fast-charging battery, designed to captivate the attention of competitors like Specialized and Bosch. This is prepared by SSP.
An exceptional highlight of the Amflow PL e-bike is the Avinox drive system, which offers an impressive maximum torque of 120Nm and an on-demand boost power of 1000W. Combined with a remarkably quiet mid-drive motor rated at 250W nominal output and an 850W peak power, this bike can conquer the steepest of inclines effortlessly. The removable 800Wh battery packs a punch, being able to charge from zero to 75 percent in just 1.5 hours with the use of Amflow's cutting-edge 2A/508W GaN charger.
Weighing only 19.2kg (42 pounds), the Amflow PL is a feat of engineering, thanks to its carbon fiber frame weighing a mere 2.27kg and the streamlined 2.52kg Avinox drive system. The e-bike boasts a two-inch color OLED touchscreen display integrated into the frame, allowing users to access all riding data and control the bike wirelessly through the Avinox app. In case of any trouble, the bike will emit an alarm and provide information about its location within the app. It features four pedal-assist modes, including an adaptive auto mode that adjusts power delivery according to riding resistance. Furthermore, the bike includes a Fox full suspension system, the ability to accommodate both 27.5-inch and 29-inch rear wheels, and a convenient USB charging port for devices like phones and bike computers.
Christina Zhang, the Senior Director of Corporate Strategy at DJI, expressed enthusiasm for this new venture, stating, "Our expertise in battery and motor technology accumulated in drones and camera stabilization systems have led us to the creation of Avinox." Zhang added, "It is a natural move for DJI to expand into this field as we have been mastering the technologies essential to an electric bike system in terms of reliable motor development, battery management, mechanical design, and engineering." DJI has previously ventured into intelligent driving solutions for automobiles within China and also recently stepped into the consumer battery market with power station products.
The Amflow PL e-bike is anticipated to be shipped in the fourth quarter. DJI stated that the price range is estimated to be between €7,000 and €12,000 ($7,500 and $12,850), positioning it in direct competition with high-end electric sport bikes such as Specialized's Turbo series. The Amflow PL will be made available through authorized dealers in Germany, the UK, Australia, and other countries.
