Drew Barrymore Is Thrilled About Turning 50: 'I Have No Issues with Aging'

Drew Barrymore is eagerly anticipating her 50th birthday, PEOPLE reported. The actress is featured on the cover of AARP The Magazine's February/March 2025 issue. In it, she reflects on her career, personal life, and the upcoming milestone.

Barrymore, set to turn 50 on February 22, expresses her desire to celebrate with her daughters, Olive, 12, and Frankie, 10. She envisions this celebration as an opportunity to hang out and cook with friends while engaging in "some real middle-aged woman s---." She states, "It can’t come soon enough. I feel like Frodo [in The Lord of the Rings]: I see that brass ring and I’m so excited! I have no issues with aging — this is the happiest I’ve been in my life."

In a heartfelt video interview with AARP The Magazine, Barrymore discusses her changing view on aging and her future aspirations. "You just realize you're gonna live X amount of years, if you're lucky," she said. Her wish is to experience the second half of her life like "the B side of a record," marking a shift from her previous experiences.

"My whole life I've been worried and stressed yet happy, having the best time ever. I would have never guessed I would feel peace," she said, visibly emotional. Barrymore describes the past decade as "the most ass-kicking and furthering of my life, and it is finally bringing peace."

Previously, in an April 2024 conversation with PEOPLE, she reflected on advice for her younger self. "If I had tried to give advice to my younger self, I wouldn't have listened!" she recalled. Stubborn and rebellious during her youth, she often rejected guidance, doing the opposite of what was suggested.

"However, I would like this little girl to know that she will be a good mom and care deeply about her kids," she added.
