Golden Bachelorette Joan Vassos Discusses New York Apartment Search with Chock Chapple
Joan Vassos, featured on The Golden Bachelorette, recently revealed details about her apartment search with fiancé Chock Chapple in New York City. Although they initially fell in love with a potential home, plans changed.
Joan expressed her disappointment in an exclusive E! News interview. "I’m so bummed about the place. That was perfect, and the guy took it off the market. We put in a bid along with others, and he took it off the market. Nobody got it, which was bizarre. That was really sad because it seemed like a really good place," she explained.
Despite the setback, Joan remains optimistic about future prospects. "The inventory is pretty low, and I'm really picky about where I want to be," stated the 62-year-old. "We have homes to live in; we probably have too many. However, although we are eager to move to New York, finding the right place is more important. We need to wait for more options in the spring since there aren't many right now."
While the apartment search occupies their thoughts, Joan lives in Maryland, and Chock resides in Kansas. Despite the 1,200 miles separating them, their relationship flourishes. They make efforts to meet regularly — aiming to see each other every two weeks.
"We're pretty good about scheduling," Joan noted. "Things have been happening organically. We often travel to attend opportunities related to the show. That has led to enjoyable time together."
When opportunities align, they create moments together in their hometowns. "I’ll visit Wichita for events he wants me at, and he will join me in D.C. for my events," Joan shared. "We keep it locked in our schedules. Two weeks apart feels like a long time for us."
Long-distance relationships pose challenges but seem to work for them. Joan remarked, "'Absence makes the heart grow fonder' is kind of true. I miss him so much when I see him, and that feels really good."
Nevertheless, Joan and Chock intend to unite in the future. "I think he will move to the East Coast," she stated. "His kids no longer live in Wichita, and his family is based on the East Coast, in North Carolina. The plan is for him to eventually move to Maryland, although he has a business to manage in Wichita now."
Joan previously clarified her stance on relocating, saying, "I'm not leaving Maryland. My kids and grandkids are there, and that's a deal from the beginning." Chock appreciates Maryland as well and is learning his way around the state.
Their daily life keeps them busy, with travel and activities, including an upcoming trip to Mexico. Joan also partnered with Aspercreme, a company focused on managing arthritis and joint pain.
"My life has become more active now," Joan explained about the collaboration. "I do more things, and with help, I can manage any aches at the end of the day. Aspercreme lets me continue my routines."
