Jamie Lee Curtis Gets Emotional While Discussing 'Horrific' L.A. Fires
During her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on January 8, 2025, Jamie Lee Curtis expressed her deep feelings concerning the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. The 66-year-old actress became visibly emotional as she spoke about the devastating impact on her neighborhood. Host Jimmy Fallon, 50, consoled her as she opened up about the catastrophic situation, PEOPLE reported.
"I’m literally just about to cry," Curtis admitted, struggling to hold back tears. She remarked, "As you know, where I live is on fire right now. Literally, the entire city of the Pacific Palisades is burning."
Curtis, who had flown in from New York to film the show, shared her distress over the wildfire situation. "I was on the plane, [when] I started getting texts, and it’s [bleep] gnarly, you guys." She highlighted the dire circumstances in Southern California, acknowledging, "Obviously, there have been horrific fires in many places, but this is literally where I live."
The "Freaky Friday" star conveyed the severe loss in her community. "My local market, my friends’ homes, and many schools have been destroyed," she stated. Curtis, who has two daughters – Ruby, 25, and Annie, 34 – with her husband Christopher Guest, plans to return to Los Angeles to support her family and help friends affected by the fires. "It’s a really awful situation," she concluded.
In a show of solidarity, Curtis urged viewers to support the American Red Cross and get involved in their communities. "Do anything you can," she urged. "Anything in your community to help people. Give blood, donate, whatever you can do."
Earlier on the same day, Curtis reassured fans that while her home and community faced peril, her family remained safe. On Instagram, she expressed her concern with a photo of one of the blazes, stating, "My community and possibly my home is on fire. My family is safe, but many of my friends will lose their homes. Many other communities as well."
The devastation from the wildfire has also impacted many celebrities, including Anna Faris, Leighton Meester, Adam Brody, Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag, and Paris Hilton.
