Jason Kelce Reacts to Look-Alike Contest and Picks His Winner
Jason Kelce humorously responded after a look-alike contest was held in his honor.
Dozens of look-alikes gathered at Rittenhouse Square Park in Philadelphia on December 14. The competition aimed to crown the Pennsylvania-native’s best doppelganger. However, according to the 37-year-old Kelce, the standards were low.
On December 16, during an episode of ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown, Kelce anticipated football discussions. Instead, cohosts, led by Scott Van Pelt, surprised him with clips from the competition. "What are we doing right now? Why is this —" a puzzled Kelce questioned, taken aback.
His co-hosts jested about several look-alikes. "There are five dudes! The guy in the sweater, I thought was you!" one remarked. Kelce dismissed the idea of his distinct appearance.
"Newsflash: Any overweight white guy with a beard looks just like me!" he said. "It’s an easy competition. Nothing sets these gentlemen apart. They are simply larger guys with beards and white skin."
Kelce shared his opinion about who should have won, not selecting the official winner. "That guy was spot on," he said regarding one top contestant who donned a cardigan similar to Kelce's own Big Lebowski-inspired sweater. That same day, Kelce updated his X profile picture to feature this contestant.
Upon seeing footage of eventual winner Paul Crossley in a maroon sweater, he commented, "It’s good. I think the sweater guy was more accurate."
"I’ve got to confess. That is actually me, guys," he joked regarding his preferred winner. "I went to my own look-alike [contest], and I lost. Came in second."
While it might flatter someone to have a look-alike contest — a different celebrity, Timothée Chalamet, once crashed one — it served as a wake-up call for Kelce.
"Do you know how disheartening it is to realize that there’s nothing unique about you?" he jokingly stated. "Thousands of people look like you."
Kelce also revealed that he shares a famous doppelganger. "You know how often I'm compared to Zach Galifianakis?" he mentioned. "I love Zach. He’s under six feet tall. There’s nothing about us that’s alike. Even our hair isn’t the same!"
