Jason Sudeikis Confirms "Ted Lasso" Season 4 Is in Development
After a prolonged period of speculation, Jason Sudeikis has confirmed that "Ted Lasso" will return for a fourth season. He shared this exciting news during an episode of the "New Heights" podcast hosted by Jason and Travis Kelce, stating, "We’re writing season 4 now."
Sudeikis revealed that the upcoming season will feature Ted coaching a women’s team. However, questions remain about whether Ted's journey will unfold in the U.S. or the U.K. He stated that he is unsure since they are still in the writing phase.
Jason Sudeikis expressed his excitement for the return of "Ted Lasso." He mentioned, "It felt like there needed to be more." He empathized with fans, saying, "I think I speak for Ted Lasso fans everywhere that we really did not want you to stop."

The strikes of 2023 by the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA influenced the decision to renew the series for a fourth season. Sudeikis explained, "That time off felt a little less special because everybody was off." He acknowledged that the situation was challenging for all involved, from actors to crew members.
During the hiatus, Sudeikis received numerous signs to continue the show. He depicted these encounters as affirmation, asserting, "We hear you. We’re listening." He noted that new story ideas kept emerging, inspiring their exploration into uncharted territories as they develop Season 4.
Picking up "Ted Lasso" for another season is both thrilling and intimidating for Sudeikis. He noted the difficulty because the season 3 finale tied the narrative neatly. He clarified, "We told the story we wanted to tell, but there’s more there."
The third season of "Ted Lasso," which concluded in May 2023, marked Ted's return to the U.S. following his efforts to aid AFC Richmond in nearly winning the Premier League. Other characters, including Coach Beard, Roy Kent, and Nathan Shelley, continued as coaching staff. Rebecca Welton and Keeley Jones hinted at forming an AFC Richmond women's team.
While Sudeikis did not disclose the confirmed cast members for the new season, reports indicate that Warner Bros. renewed contracts for several actors, including the beloved Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, Juno Temple, and Jeremy Swift.
The potential focus on a women's team introduces uncertainty about the futures of several favorite characters, such as Jamie Tartt, Dani Rojas, and Sam Obisanya.
The initial three seasons of "Ted Lasso" are available for streaming on Apple TV+.
