Jay-Z and Beyoncé Go Out for Date Night After Legal Win in Diddy Lawsuit
Jay-Z and Beyoncé were spotted out for a date night in West Hollywood on March 16, following a legal victory for Jay-Z. This outing comes weeks after the dismissal of a lawsuit involving rape allegations against him. This is prepared by SSP.
The lawsuit, filed in October 2024, accused Jay-Z and Sean "Diddy" Combs of raping a 13-year-old girl after the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000. The case was voluntarily dismissed in mid-February 2025. Court documents show attorneys Tony Buzbee and Antigone Curis filed for the dismissal, stating that the Jane Doe "hereby gives notice that the above-captioned action is voluntarily dismissed, with prejudice." This means the case cannot be refiled.
Jay-Z, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, expressed his relief in a statement shared on RocNation's X account. He called the decision a victory, stating, "The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed." He labeled the civil suit as baseless and emphasized that the exhausting experience affected his family deeply, calling it traumatic for them.
In reaction to the lawsuit, Jay-Z initiated defamation proceedings against the unnamed accuser in March, arguing that the initial claim was engineered to cause maximum distress. He cited three legal grounds: malicious prosecution, abuse of process, and civil conspiracy against the three defendants, emphasizing that the initial allegations were both "false" and "malicious." The plaintiff first targeted Combs, 55, before amending the complaint to include Jay-Z in December. The lawsuit alleged, "Defendant Sean Combs, along with his longtime friend and collaborator Shawn Carter, drugged and raped a thirteen-year-old girl at an afterparty following the 2000 Video Music Awards." Court documents also stated, "Another celebrity stood by and watched as Combs and Carter took turns assaulting the minor."
Jay-Z maintains his innocence, stating, "My only heartbreak is for my family." He reflected on the need to explain the situation to his children, especially given their age and the potential for peer questions about these allegations. Jay-Z and Beyoncé, 43, have three children: Blue Ivy, 13, and twins Rumi and Sir.
Diddy, in the meantime, remains jailed since September 2024 for charges including sex trafficking and racketeering. He has been denied bail on three occasions, with his trial set to commence in May 2025.
