Jelly Roll Updates on Health and Fitness Journey After 120-Pound Weight Loss
Jelly Roll has made significant progress in his health and fitness journey, celebrating a milestone after losing 120 pounds. During a pre-Super Bowl 2025 party, the 40-year-old country star shared his excitement about this achievement.
"I hiked a mountain the other day. Camelback," explained Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord. He spoke to E! News exclusively at the Madden Bowl in New Orleans on February 7. He noted that such an accomplishment would have been impossible before his impressive weight loss. "It’s great to see that progress, and we still are going."
Previously, in November, Jelly Roll shared details of his transformation, pointing out that he weighed over 500 pounds just three years prior. As the newly appointed "Artist-in-Residence" for American Idol, he also elaborated on his motivations. "It isn't always the case where I feel focused or positive," he stated. Much of his drive comes from people he meets during rehab visits and other outreach efforts. Stories of recovery and resilience from individuals meaningfully inspire him.
Jelly Roll emphasized the importance of these encounters. "People share their sobriety dates or experiences, and their stories resonate deeply with me," he reflected. His experiences battling addiction and serving time due to aggravated robbery and drug charges give context to the uplift he feels from these stories. "Seeing the resilience of the human spirit is motivation to keep going."
His wife, Bunnie XO, has continuously supported his transformation. Jelly Roll expressed his desire to appear on the cover of a magazine. "I wanna be on the cover of Men’s Health," he mentioned during a December 15 episode of her podcast, Dumb Blonde. He set a goal to achieve this by March 2026.
With a shared enthusiasm, Bunnie responded, "Let's go!" Jelly Roll described this ambition as his commitment to a drastic transformation. The couple has been married since 2016, and Bunnie is a stepmom to Jelly Roll’s children, Bailee Ann, 16, and Noah Buddy, 8.
In discussing their successful relationship, Jelly Roll shared, "There's not one rule, but a big thing is prioritizing each other and the family. It’s all about making it that simple."
