Jenni 'JWoww' Farley Reveals Sarah Michelle Gellar Inspired Her Martial Arts Journey
At the premiere of "Dexter: Original Sin" on December 11, Jenni "JWoww" Farley shared her thoughts with PEOPLE about how much Sarah Michelle Gellar influenced her childhood. The "Jersey Shore" star emphasized that Gellar played a vital role in shaping her early interests.
Gellar, now 47, makes a special guest appearance in the "Dexter" prequel series. During the premiere, Farley revealed to PEOPLE, "She shaped [my] whole childhood." Farley also mentioned that Sarah was the reason she began taking martial arts classes. "I used to carve stakes, believing a vampire would come out," she admitted.
JWoww expressed her hopes of reconnecting with Gellar, stating that meeting her again would be a "dream come true."
At the event, Farley also revealed her admiration for the original "Dexter" series, which aired on Showtime from 2006 to 2013. "I watched it in real-time and fell in love with it," she said, adding that she has introduced both her fiancé, Zack Clayton Carpinello, and co-star Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi to the show.
Polizzi couldn’t attend the premiere but was eager to avoid spoilers. Farley shared, "She was so mad" at leaving their group chat, saying, "Bye, I can’t know any spoilers."
In the new Dexter installment, Gellar stars as Tanya Martin, the chief of CSI at the Miami Metro Police Department. This character becomes Dexter's boss during his forensics internship.
As reported earlier, the casting choices of Gellar, along with Christian Slater and Patrick Dempsey, were intentional. Network executives aimed to evoke 1990s nostalgia by selecting recognizable stars from that decade.
Gellar’s involvement in the new series brings her back into the spotlight. Meanwhile, Slater plays Dexter's father, Harry, while Dempsey takes on the role of Miami Metro Homicide Captain Aaron Spencer. Patrick Gibson plays young Dexter Morgan, showcasing his journey from student to avenging serial killer.
"When his bloodthirsty urges can't be ignored any longer, Dexter learns to channel his inner darkness," according to the synopsis. The character faces significant challenges as he navigates a forensics internship while adhering to a personal Code established by his father to target those he deems deserving of elimination.
