Jenny Slate Distances Herself From It Ends With Us Controversy

Jenny Slate prefers to avoid discussing the controversy involving "It Ends With Us," PEOPLE reported. During her conversation with "The Hollywood Reporter" about her upcoming FX series "Dying for Sex," the actress and comedian made it clear that she does not wish to comment on the legal dispute between her co-stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.

The controversy began in December 2024 when Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni and his production company, alleging sexual harassment. She claimed there was also a retaliatory public smear campaign aimed at damaging her reputation. Slate stated, "I don’t have anything to say about that," when asked to compare the filming of "It Ends With Us'' to her current project.

In response to the outlet's inquiries, Slate emphasized the importance of her work in "Dying for Sex." She noted, "I poured my heart into this work… every minute was important to me." The timing is relevant, as she started filming shortly after completing her role as Baldoni's character’s sister in the Netflix film.

When asked how she plans to handle questions in the future, Slate noted, "Anyone can ask anything." However, she insisted her focus is on promoting her current work. "Why would I spend time talking about anything but that?" she said.

Slate starred alongside Lively, Baldoni, Brandon Sklenar, and Hasan Minhaj in "It Ends With Us." The film became one of the top movies at the domestic box office in 2024. This popularity shifted after Lively's lawsuit, which prompted Baldoni to launch a counter-defamation lawsuit against her, Ryan Reynolds, and others.

Slate expressed support for Lively in December 2024 following Lively's initial lawsuit. She stated, "As Blake Lively’s cast mate and friend, I voice my support…" The statement emphasized Lively’s leadership and loyalty, noting how Blake served as a trusted emotional source.

Slate called the attacks on Lively "dark" and "disturbing." She praised Lively's bravery and affirmed her support.
