Jerry O’Connell Considers Next Move After ‘The Talk’
Jerry O'Connell is looking forward to what’s next after he departs from "The Talk." In a recent interview with Us Weekly, he humorously suggested that joining "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" may be a fun idea. "Maybe I can be the first Real Househusband who’s a cast member," said the 50-year-old actor. O'Connell, who is married to actress Rebecca Romijn, 52, expressed his love for the reality series: "I want a diamond! That would be really fun. I think I’d do a great job."
Though O'Connell is enthusiastic about the prospect, it may not happen soon. "My wife won’t do it," he said, admitting that Romijn prefers to keep their lives more private. O'Connell and Romijn connected on "The Talk," but he said goodbye to the show on December 20, alongside Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, and Sheryl Underwood. He joined the show in July 2021, following Sharon Osbourne's exit.
Together since 2007 and parents to 16-year-old twin daughters, Charlie and Dolly, O'Connell shared that their family life is drama-free. "They’re not vaping," he remarked. "And, at least, so I’m told, aren’t ‘getting with’ anybody, so that’s good." The dreamy family life brings its own brand of joy for O'Connell, yet there's a consistent pull toward reality television.
O'Connell has previously voiced a desire to join "RHOBH." In an October 2022 interview, he confirmed, "Would I consider it? Yes." He admires figures like Mauricio Umansky and Ken Todd. "I wanna, like, hang out with those guys," he added. Despite their enthusiasm for reality TV, Romijn conveyed her reservations about joining the franchise. She prefers discussing the show's drama rather than participating in it. "I feel like I would miss out on the gossip part of it," she noted.
O'Connell is well aware of the emotional rollercoaster that comes with reality TV. After witnessing Lisa Rinna getting booed at BravoCon, he explained his trepidation, saying, "If I got booed at BravoCon, I would leave the country." He admires Rinna for handling such public backlash but humorously doubts his own ability to manage similar situations. "I don’t know if I could handle it, but Lisa Rinna handles it really well," he said.
With a playful desire for diamonds and aspirations for reality stardom, O'Connell's journey after "The Talk" seems ripe with potential. His lighthearted outlook promises a fun time should he ever join Housewives territory.
