Joanna Gaines Enjoys Late-Night Baking with her Daughter

Joanna Gaines shared a video on Instagram on November 28, showing her and her oldest daughter, Ella, engaged in festive baking. The video features 18-year-old Ella organizing while they bake, with four rows of donuts displayed on the kitchen counter.

"Late night baking with my Ella ✨#syriandonuts," Joanna wrote in her post.

Alongside Ella, the star of Fixer Upper has a total of five children with husband Chip Gaines. Their children include Drake, 19, Duke, 16, Emmie, 14, and Crew, 6.

Baking alongside her mother isn’t Ella’s first step into the family’s entrepreneurial ventures. In a 2019 conversation with People, Joanna remarked on Ella’s similarities to her.

"I think she’ll follow in my footsteps and have her hand in many things," Joanna expressed. "Currently, she wants to cook, become a lead designer, and operate a donut truck."

During their mother-daughter baking evening, Joanna and Ella appeared to be preparing Syrian donuts. The recipe can be found on the Gaines’ Magnolia website, where Joanna shared a personal cooking tip.

"My grandfather’s recipe calls for just 1 cup of sugar," she mentioned on Magnolia. "I prefer it sweeter, so I use 2 cups. I enjoy anise seed, so I typically add more. Not everyone appreciates such a unique spice, so adjust according to your taste."

Joanna frequently enjoys late-night baking. In October, she posted a video on Instagram preparing sourdough bagels during the night.

"Sourdough > Sleep," she captioned the post. "Baking at night is one of my favorite activities; then I eat what I make 👩🏻‍🍳 Those bagels have a texture akin to a pillow of happiness 🥰 Sourdough fans, what should I try next?"

Beyond baking, the Gaines family manages several projects. They are producing four new unscripted shows on MAX. Two of these new programs include Roller Jam, a roller skating competition, and Human vs. Hamster, where humans compete with hamsters.

Chip and Joanna are also executive producing Second Chance Stage, a show offering individuals a fresh start at their dreams. Additionally, they are behind Back to the Frontier, where contestants attempt to live like pioneers on the frontier.
