Jonathan Majors Reveals Childhood Sexual Abuse as He Plans Comeback After Assault Conviction
Jonathan Majors unpacked the sexual abuse he suffered starting at the age of 9 during therapy, PEOPLE reported. This process followed his 2023 assault trial in New York City. In his first formal interview post his April 2024 sentencing, Majors spoke to The Hollywood Reporter, revealing he experienced "sexual abuse from both men and women." With the absence of a father, he recalled feeling vulnerable and let down by "people who are supposed to look after you."
Recently, he opened up to his mother about the abuse, stating they are now working on healing. "I just want you to know," he shared of their conversation. Majors emphasized the importance of connection and understanding within their family moving forward.
Majors’ acting career faced challenges after his March 2023 arrest over an alleged altercation with ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. Following a December 2023 trial, he was found guilty of misdemeanor assault and harassment. Marvel Studios dismissed him soon after the jury's verdict.
While Majors was acquitted of other charges, he remains unable to publicly comment on Jabbari's domestic allegations. Despite the setbacks, he reflects on how addressing his own abusive past has helped him understand relationship behaviors, particularly while dating Meagan Good, whom he was engaged to in November 2024.
"As I get help, I begin to understand more about myself," Majors remarked, indicating personal growth from his experiences. He prepares for the release of "Magazine Dreams," in which he stars as an aspiring bodybuilder, set to premiere in theaters on March 21.
Although he is hopeful about continuing his acting career, he acknowledged that the decision is beyond his control. "I don't have a studio. I've given up control," he said, highlighting the uncertain nature of his future in the film industry.
