Kaley Cuoco Would 'Absolutely Reprise' Penny in The Big Bang Theory
Kaley Cuoco loves her role as Penny in The Big Bang Theory just like its fans. In an interview with People, published on October 19, Cuoco expressed significant appreciation for her character’s impact.
"I spent 12 years playing that role. It set off my career. I owe a lot to this character, to that show, and to Chuck Lorre," she shared. "It was some of the best years of my life and some of the most fun I've ever had."
Cuoco also revealed her desire to revisit her role. "I would absolutely reprise that role," she stated. "100 percent. I love that character, and I always will."
She starred alongside Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Mayim Bialik, Simon Helberg, and Kunal Nayyar. The show, which ran from September 2007 to May 2019 for 12 seasons, featured a group of self-proclaimed nerds navigating life and love. It won 10 Emmy Awards and inspired a prequel, Young Sheldon, based on Sheldon Cooper’s character.
Young Sheldon’s success led to a spinoff titled Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, which debuted on October 17.
Currently, Cuoco stars in the Peacock series, Based on a True Story, while also sharing personal victories. Recently, she announced her engagement to Tom Pelphrey.
On August 14, Cuoco showed her engagement ring, captioning the photo with, "Amazing weekend." Together, they have a daughter, Matilda, who is one year old. Cuoco announced Matilda's birth via Instagram in March 2023.
"Introducing Matilda Carmine Richie Pelphrey, the new light of our lives! We are overjoyed and grateful for this little miracle," Cuoco wrote alongside newborn photos. "Thank you to doctors, nurses, family, and friends for their immense help. We are blessed beyond belief."
Cuoco mentioned that she and Pelphrey are excited to expand their family someday. "We’re gonna go way out of order. That’s our plan," she told People on September 22. "I have four dogs now, a 1-year-old baby, and a Tom — it’s a lot."
Cuoco and Pelphrey were introduced by their mutual manager, Andrea Pett-Joseph. She felt they would be perfect together, and the pair clicked at the final season premiere of *Ozark* in April 2022.
