Kate Hudson Reflects on Her "Great Love" for Matthew McConaughey
Kate Hudson recently reminisced about her collaboration with Matthew McConaughey in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, over 20 years later. Hudson described her experience of working with the Oscar-winning actor as one of the highlights of her career.
The actress emphasized their special connection. "There's just a similar energy between us that allowed our on-screen chemistry," she told Vanity Fair in an interview published on March 11. Hudson labeled McConaughey as one of her "great loves" in her professional journey. She stated, "As actresses, I think we have great loves in our work. And he’s one of my great loves."
She expressed that "meeting and feeling that chemistry" created a unique dynamic. Hudson praised McConaughey's talent and described their shared energy as "amazing." "It's just sort of an energetic thing, and great producers can perceive that right away," she added.
Hudson fondly recalled her time filming How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. "Matthew always brings his best, without ego," she said. She admired his ability to infuse vibrant energy into his performances. Hudson noted they share a "very similar joie de vivre," signifying their shared enjoyment of life. They’re "not afraid to be flirtatious" while working together.
In real life, Hudson is engaged to Danny Fujikawa, with whom she has a daughter, Rani, age 6. However, she is not rushing to marry. On the March 3 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, she discussed her engagement, saying, "I like the idea of being engaged forever." She finds the "contractual" aspects of marriage to be challenging.
Furthermore, Hudson looks to role models for exemplifying successful relationships without marriage. She noted her parents, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, who have been together since Hudson was 7. "They’ve been ‘engaged’ without the contract," she remarked. Hudson views this as a strong example of lasting love.
