Khloé Kardashian Helped Kim Kardashian After Her Divorce from Damon Thomas
Kim Kardashian faced financial struggles after her divorce from Damon Thomas. To help her sister, Khloé Kardashian offered the money she had saved in her childhood piggy bank.
In the March 6 episode of "The Kardashians," 44-year-old Kim expressed appreciation for Khloé’s support. She recounted how Khloé, then about 4 or 5 years old, received a piggy bank shaped like a Coca-Cola bottle. "We would put so much money in it," Kim recalled. "When I was getting my first divorce, I moved out and had no money. I was like 21, and she gave me her Coke bottle." This gesture allowed Kim to secure her own apartment. "We were up all night counting it, and it was $6,000. It was enough for my down payment," Kim explained.
In a separate interview, Khloé shared her thoughts on providing the funds. She recalled, "She was crying in my room, and I was just like, ‘I have this, so let’s go to the bank and cash it. Let’s use this money for your divorce.’" Khloé emphasized her intention to help.
At just 19, Kim married Thomas, who is now 54. They divorced shortly before Kim's rise to fame on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" in 2007. Kim and Thomas were married for three years, ending their union in 2003.
Years later, in 2011, Kim got engaged to Kris Humphries after a whirlwind romance. They married in 2011 but split after only 72 days. Their divorce was finalized in April 2013 following a protracted court battle.
Kim then began a relationship with Kanye West, a longtime friend. The couple wed in 2014, a year after welcoming their daughter, North. They later had son Saint in 2015, daughter Chicago in 2018, and son Psalm in 2019. In February 2021, Kim filed for divorce after nearly seven years together.
During a February episode of "The Kardashians," Kim reflected on marriage dynamics. She mentioned the impact of unforeseen circumstances on personal changes within partners. "You can’t ever get that person back, but you can’t live with the new person. I get it," she noted. Kim said navigating a marriage’s end can be challenging, especially when unexpected circumstances arise.
Since her split from West, Kim has been linked to Pete Davidson and Odell Beckham Jr. However, she has no plans to rush into marriage again. In a June 2022 episode of "Today With Hoda & Jenna," Kim stated, "I think I will be really cautious because I maybe have proven that I am not the best at [marriage]. I don’t want to make that mistake again." She also mused about being in a relationship similar to that of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, who have remained together while not marrying.
New episodes of "The Kardashians" air on Hulu each Thursday.
