Kieran Culkin Talks Upcoming Broadway Return After 10 Years: 'Just Trying Not to Worry'
Kieran Culkin is preparing to take the stage once again with a major return to Broadway in Glengarry Glen Ross, after a decade-long break. In an exclusive chat with PEOPLE, the 42-year-old actor shared a mix of excitement and nerves as he gets ready for the revival of David Mamet’s acclaimed play starting performances from March 10 at The Palace Theatre in New York City. Despite his anxieties, Culkin told PEOPLE that he is trying not to worry, focusing instead on adhering closely to the script. "All I know is it is a really good, well-written play. As long as we don't do anything drastic to mess it up, it should be good," he expressed. Culkin wants to avoid misinterpreting Mamet’s words or making out-of-place choices and emphasizes that all he needs is already in the script. This is prepared by SSP.
Culkin, currently an Oscar nominee, has experience in projects like This Is Our Youth and is now joined by Broadway newcomers Bob Odenkirk and Bill Burr for this limited 12-week run. Directed by Tony winner Patrick Marber, the show is a portrayal of a ruthless Chicago real estate office where salespeople vie to sell near-worthless properties. Opening the doors on March 31, this revival follows successful past Broadway renditions that starred noted actors like Liev Schreiber and Jeffrey Tambor. Reflecting on past stage antics, Culkin asserts that he’s matured since then, assuring his future co-stars that his pranks, like replacing prop joints with real marijuana, are long behind him. With tickets on sale, audiences can soon watch this dynamic ensemble bring Mamet’s intense tale to life under Marber's expert direction.
