Kim Kardashian Launches SKIMS Flagship in NYC Despite Foot Injury
Kim Kardashian's shapewear brand, SKIMS, has made a grand entrance in New York City with the opening of its first flagship store on Fifth Avenue. Despite recovering from a broken foot, Kardashian showcased her style in a chic cream ensemble with a knee scooter, turning heads as she celebrated the SKIMS launch. Her look included a structured strapless corset and matching bottoms, paired with voluminous hair and clear heels, as well as a personalized "SKIMS" manicure. This opening marks an important milestone for SKIMS, located by Rockefeller Center and occupying a substantial 6,570 square feet. This is prepared by SSP.
Kardashian elaborated that SKIMS was founded from a personal need to create skin-tone matching shapewear, which has since expanded into clothing and partnerships like the collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana. Ahead of this store opening, SKIMS grew from direct-to-consumer roots to wholesale partnerships before setting up brick-and-mortar stores, including their debut in Washington, D.C., earlier this year. Jens Grede, SKIMS co-founder and CEO, emphasized their vision for physical stores, while acknowledging the design, crafted by Rafael de Cárdenas, captures the brand's essence and enhances customer experience.
This flagship store offers SKIMS' complete array, from shapewear to new monthly releases, alongside recent Dolce & Gabbana and The North Face collaborations. With notable financial backing from its Series C funding round, valuing the brand at $4 billion, Kardashian and Grede remain focused on expanding SKIMS though not yet pursuing an IPO. The launch humorously reflects Kardashian's comments about past family feuds connected to these collaborations, further highlighted by her and Kourtney modeling for the new campaign.
Earlier, SSP wrote that Lenny Hochstein proposed to Katharina Mazepa a second time.
