King Charles Discusses Prince Harry's Invictus Games

King Charles III recently spoke about the Invictus Games during an outing in London on February 19. He interacted with David Henson, a former British Army captain and para-sport athlete. Henson is a competitor in the Invictus Games, a tournament established by Harry in 2014 for injured or sick veterans.

The king, age 77, visited the Center for Injury Studies at Imperial College London. His visit aimed to underscore the U.K.'s support for injured personnel related to the conflict in Ukraine. A press release for Us Weekly confirmed this information.

While at the center, Henson demonstrated virtual reality biofeedback technology, essential for aiding rehabilitation for those with limb loss. The conversation shifted towards Henson's experiences with the Invictus Games, where Charles asked, "Are you still taking part in games and sports?"

Henson replied, "I’m a touch too old, I think. I did the Invictus Games in 2014 and 2016, and I was a trustee until the end of 2023. Now, I’m back in the defense industry, working with three children."

Charles responded positively, saying, "Fantastic."

Henson had previously met the king and appeared with Charles, Harry, and Prince William at the Invictus Games in London in 2014, where he captained Team U.K.

These remarks by Charles came as Harry concluded the 2025 games in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada. This year's event included approximately 550 participants from over 20 countries, taking place from February 8 to 16.

Dominic Reed, CEO of the Invictus Games, shared insights about Harry's dedication to the event. He stated, "I've worked with the duke for nearly 12 years. His commitment is unparalleled." Reed emphasized Harry's passion, recalling a moment when Harry referred to the Invictus Games as his "second child." After the birth of his daughter Lilibet, he humorously corrected himself, calling it his "first child." This remark underscores how significant the games are to him.
